Week 2 Quick Hits (What you need to know before submitting your lineup)
Well week one is in the books.
Time to stop whining about your losses and bragging about your wins, it's now time to get ready for week 2!
OAK QB- Aaron Brooks
Sacked 7 times?? Let's not place all the blame for Oakland's terrible game on Brooks. The entire team looked like trash, and now Brooks may be out with a bruised knee. He's getting an MRI done this week, but even if he is a go he is bound to get broken with that pass protection.
KC QB- Trent Green
That was a rough hit. Whenever a player goes limp like that and doesn't move for as long as he did, it's a bad bad thing. Good news is Green is looking to be back after KC's bye week(3). Obviously you need to go in another direction for the next couple of weeks. Some are saying KC may try to trade for Volek, but if not, look for Huard to get the nod.
PIT QB- Ben Roethlisberger
Roethlisberger says he wants to play. Most people close to the situation believe he will play, but with Batch's week 1 performance there isn't a need to unnecessarily rush things. Right now he is listed as questionable.....keep an eye on this as a starter will be named "later in the week".
TEN QB- Kerry Collins
Jeff Fisher is going with Collins for week 2. In bigger news; if he is your fantasy starting QB you need to take up a new interest.
DAL QB-Drew Bledsoe
Even though Bledsoe looked terrible, Parcells says he isn't going to bench him in favor of Romo.....yet. I can't remember the last time I saw a guy projected to have a better than decent year fall so fast. If he's your starter don't panic until next week.
DEN QB- Jake Plummer
Take away Bledsoe's TD and over 100 yards of his passing and you are left with...Jake Plummer. Again I wouldn't start freaking out just yet, but Denver fans and writers are one of the most spoiled groups in all of American Sports. I can hear it now if Plummer has another bad week, the entire state calling for Jay Cutler.....great.
PIT RB- Willie Parker
It looks like Najeh Davenport may be active for the Steelers Monday night game against Jacksonville. This may or may not be big news, it just depends on how much endzone action he takes from Parker....all Parker owners need to keep an eye on this. If Davenport looks to steal a good chunk, you might be able to get a quick trade done with one of the "special" owners in your league.....you know the ones.
PHI RB- Brian Westbrook
Due to injury it looks like Westbrook will be the team's punt returner in week 2. Every time he's on the field I get scared he is going to break like an egg...due to his past, this just screams of injury.
NE RB- Kevin Faulk
Faulk may see some decent time at receiver now that Branch is officially gone.
TB RB- Carnell Williams
Williams was experiencing back spasms in camp, and they're still bothering him. He should play, but if you own him you better keep a close eye on this one.
WAS RB- Clinton Portis
Nothing too flashy, but at least he played. Those of you who picked him up late because people like me were scared may have gotten yourself a steal. He looks to be 100%.
DEN RB- The Bell boys
Tatum is going to get the start, and Mike has a fractured finger. That said, they are both going to see action according to Shanahan(Mike Bell "should be able" to play). Whoever "gets a hot hand" will see the bulk of the action. Who will that be? You tell me.
BUF RB- Willis McGahee
His poor outing may have to do with an ankle he twisted. He's looking to be day-to-day, so watch his status this week.
SF RB- Frank Gore
I drafted him in both of my leagues. No news here, I just want to look smart. Those of you who scoffed will be believers!
TEN RB-
What a mess. Who knows where the pieces are going to fall when White gets himself into the mix. Don't start these guys unless you are just that desperate.
SEA WR- Deion Branch
HUGE news for Branch owners....here is anohter guy I passed on because I was scared, and I'm kicking myself now. Not POSITIVE if he's playing this week or not, but I'll try to keep you posted. Darrell Jackson and Nate Burleson owners need to watch how this all plays out for them. BTW Jackson is still having some problems with his knee, but he should play.
OAK WR- Jerry Porter
Is he going to NE? Maybe, but he's not there yet, and he's not helping his cause by being an idiot. Might be nice to stash him on your bench if you have the room.
GB WR- Koren Robinson
If Robinson can stay sober, he might be available for week 2. It's still to be seen if the NFL is going to suspend him, so it's best to stay away for now.
DET WR- Roy Williams
He's an idiot. As a Chicago fan, I'm glad he's providing bulliten-board material to a defense that really doesn't need it.
CAR WR- Steve Smith
Still not practicing, and he won't until they know he's ready to go. His absence is killing the Panthers and his fantasy owners. If you own him you obviously need to see if he practices Wednesday.
DEN WR- Javon Walker
Walker sustained a "slightly dislocated" finger in week one. Does this explain the drops? I hope so. He should be good to go week 2 against the Chiefs.
CIN WR- TJ Housemanilly
Houshmazoo looks to be back in the lineup week 2 IF he practices this week.
NYJ WR- Jerricho Cotchery
He's getting the pay-dirt love, and he's probably still on your waiver-wire. Worth a sniff if you have room on your team.
SF WR- Antonio Bryant
Another guy worth a look if he's available and you have space. He won't break 100 yards and a TD every week, but he does look to be the go-to-guy for Alex Smith.....is that saying much?
DAL K- Mike Vanderjagt
Vanderjagt was cleared by trainers to play in week 2, but Parcells is now worried about Vanderjagt mentally! Take a number Bill, we're all worried. If you own this guy, you need to watch the situation......and maybe try to get another, more stable, kicker.
PHEW!
A lot of news this week, and a lot of stories to follow.
If I've missed anything of value, please let me know!
