Pete's Picks...Week 3.

Alright just two more days till we get to see some more football.
Great games this week....I don't think I'll be going 13-3 this week...especially since there are 4 byes.

Only got three (3???) hits yesterday and we're back to O comments around this place, but I'm going to continue to write for a while....we'll see what happens...it shouldn't all fall on AG to keep this place alive. If you're reading...let me know. I know you can't be agreeing with all of the things I'm writing!

Rant over, I'm ok now....back to the picks!

Carolina at Tampa Bay
This is just one of a handful of great games this Sunday.....oh wait.
Sure they're both 0-2, but this Carolina team (with or without Steve Smith) is way better than this Tampa Bay team. I'll say it again, they just have NO weapons. QB stinks, thus making the WRs suffer, and the RB is a ?. Carolina gets that first win.
CAR

Chicago at Minnesota
Alright here is a game that should be close....oh wait.
Sure they're both 2-0, but all of these wins have come from teams that still haven't won a game yet. Bottom line is, Chicago is going to take this game and it won't be as close as everyone it touting. Taylor will have a good game, but the passing game is going to suffer....and if Grossman can keep it going I'm going to go out and buy a jersey. I think they have them at JCPenny for $4.50 and there are racks of them!
CHI

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh
Now this will be a good game to watch.......oh nevermind.
Roethlisberger had a rough (understatement) outing last Monday, and look for it to continue this week. Sure the Steelers have a great DF, but they are going to be spending a lot of time on the field.....look for them to tire, and the Bengals to get a big win.
CIN

Green Bay at Detroit
Here's another 0-2/0-2 game this one will be good baby.....just kidding.
If the Lions can make Rex Grossman look like a younger Brett Favre, just think what they will make Brett Favre look like!! The Lions seem to have the swagger of a championship calliber team, except they are forgetting those one things that a champion needs....what are they called?....o yeah....WINS!
GB

Jacksonville at Indianapolis
Alright, enough goofing around...this IS going to be a good game.....for real.....that's it...good game.
Jax has the weapons, but not enough to beat this Colts team. Manning is going to drop some serious yards, but the Jags solid D is going to keep this game close. A still healthy Fred Taylor?? It's week 3! Shouldn't he be broken?
IND

N.Y. Jets at Buffalo
This game might actually be fun to watch because we might get some answers:
Is Pennington back, and are the NYJs WRs (Coles and Cotchery) going to keep it going?
Are Barlow and McGahee ever going to score again?
The answers are Yes, so actually don't watch this game....go spend time with the family, while this garbage is on.
NYJ

Tennessee at Miami
OK this is it! If Culpepper can't get it done this week, you need to drop him or see if you can trade him for David Carr. This is a good game for both teams. The Phins can get things going in some sort of winning direction, and the Titans can keep that #1 draft pick in their sites.
MIA

Washington at Houston
Just what the Dr. ordered for the Skins. Just like the Dolphins, if the Deadskins can't get things going this week they need to go ahead and start playing in the arena league. David Carr is again going to get some good points, but again it won't matter. Look for Washington to walk.
WAS

Baltimore at Cleveland
Oh boy am I glad I drafted the Raven's DF in both of my leagues. Is this a cake schedule so far or what?? The Browns offense is going to be dormant this week, as the Ravens go to 3-0. They really should just stay at home....or they could travel to Baltimore, say they were confused and thought it was an away game for them. That would be less embarrassing for them.
BAL

N.Y. Giants at Seattle
I'm seeing a lot of people picking the Giants after thier come from behind win, but I just don't think so. Good job NYG, you had a great comeback....but if you didn't stink up the stadium the entire first 3 quarters of the game you wouldn't have had to come back! The C-Hawks haven't looked all that impressive so far, but Branch is only going to make the team better....and I think he will push D-Jax to do better too.
SEA

St. Louis at Arizona
Arizona? Can I get a shootout this week?? I have Fitz in one leaguel, and Boldin in the other....if you could light it up this week it would be great! Fantasy wise I think this will be a nice game with big points for both teams. In real life I think the Cardinals are going to explode again...in a good way.
ARI

Philadelphia at San Francisco
Philly is coming off a tough loss, and if they slouch coming into SF they might get another L. Again, I really like where this 49er O is headed. Smith is absolutely in love with Bryant, and they have become a legit combo. It will be interesting to see Gore this week as he faces the toughest D they've seen so far. Don't worry McNabb....things will get back on track this week.
PHI

Denver at New England
Don't get me wrong...I'm NOT a Denver fan, but I think they are a better team than what they have shown. I also am not a New England fan, and they are not as good as their record shows.
Denver fans = spoiled
New England fans = whiney
Either way this game goes I have to listen to some type of garbage!
The Pats are hurting in the passing department, but can you give me a better RB combo in the NFL? Didn't think so.....get ready for some spoiled fan complaining!
NE

Atlanta at New Orleans
NFL Football is returning to NO for the first time since Hurrican Katrina.
Brees and Bush are making their debuts for the home crowd.
Two 2-0 teams facing each other with such emotion in the air.
This will be the feel-good story of the year........until the game starts.
The Saints have played no one worth a dime, and the Falcons are running ball all over the place.
Watch out for this Atlanta team....I hate to repeat myself, but Vickball is the difference in this team and the Falcon team of a year ago.
ATL

There's the picks for week 3!
Let's see how I do.

Pete's Week 3 all Fantasy Team:
QB- Donovan McNabb
RB1- Stephen Jackson
RB2- Ronnie Brown
WR1- Donald Driver
WR2- Anquan Boldin
TE- Alge Crumpler
K- David Akers
DF- Since I can't pick the Ravens....CAR

Alright...there it is...we've survived another week-long wait.
Enjoy...the games this week are going to be good.
See you Monday!

Yes, it is unlively in here and I feel sleepy. As a groupey, I want rock star excitement. Not happening here. I probably account for about three hits daily myself; just to see if there are any responders. I guess just some lurkers here. Hey, you don't have to ID yourself, just spout off! I believe the best way to reward the "Master Blogger" is to give him feedback. Notice I said "him" since women don't have anything analytical to say. It's a man's world! I still don't know why one league I play in allows them. Don't they have children to look after, a house to clean and my soda and chips to fetch for me?

"MB" I'll never say this again, but good job and I hope you keep going. With that said, I wouldn't shut it down quite yet. If you do decide, just give me two weeks notice, so I can find a new home and latch onto someone else. If you happen to be anywhere close to the northwest, you can drop me off wherever.

Some notes on your comments:

C-Pep is ticking me off! He better get it together, and he has until week 5 or I'm going with my other (Warner) for the rest of the season. I've been wavering because C-Pep has the body frame to run it in...Warner doesn't. I won't wait long.

I wouldn't give Carolina the win over TB just yet. The disclaimer is Smith can't play this week in order for TB to have a chance. THIS game maybe the upset game of the week. I know, how can I say that about two 0-2 teams? Simms can't play any worse, so he might play better. TB needs to develop a game plan to get Simms confidence early. If that happens, Galloway could score.

Ok, I'm a C-Hawk homer and have been my whole life. I'll always find a positive, but did the Burleson experiment already blow-up? Why bring in Branch? Are 4-WR sets that important. Yes, it provides confusion for the offenses, but who stays home to block? I know they won't use it on every down, but I just don't know if it buys you a measureable difference over 3-WR sets. With all this said, if Branch can help Jackson and the offense get more explosive, I'm all for it!

I meant to say in my last post: " ...it provides confusion for the defenses,..."
