W.T.L.F. Week 4!

OK, things seem to be working (we will see) so I am going to resume my responsibilities. There is no way I would be able to make up our lost updates, so I will continue forward!
Here we go with What To Look For.......week FOUR!

Arizona at Atlanta
Look for Warner to start again...(as we all know), but Leinart won't see any action this week.
Look for Dunn to get back to his 100 yard ways
Dallas at Tennessee
Look for TO to play, and have a good game.
Look for VY to finally get some decent field time.
Indianapolis at N.Y. Jets
Look for Addai to start to show something.....something good.
Look for Pennington to keep having good games for his owners.
Miami at Houston
Look for C-pep to not even get it done against the Texans!!
Look for Ron Dayne to be fat....and have an OK day.
Minnesota at Buffalo
Look for the Vikes to ride Taylor all day.
Look for McGahee to still get shut out of the endzone.
New Orleans at Carolina
Look for Colston to have another solid day....if he's available, get him.
Look for Carolina to keep a perfect record with Smith in the lineup.
San Diego at Baltimore
Look for a tight game, and Rivers to struggle.
Look for lots of D in this game.
San Fransico at Kansas City
Look for Gore to be fine....unless he continues to fumble!!!!
Look for LJ to get some good points for his owners, but it won't matter for the Chiefs.
Detroit at St. Louis
Look for another TD for Kevin Jones.
Look for STL to keep DET winless.
Cleveland at Oakland
Look for Frye to look like an actual NFL QB again this week.
Look for Andrew Walter to look better than Brooks has so far.
Jacksonville at Washington
Look again for Jones-Drew to get some time on the field and make the most of it.
Look for Portis to be all the Redskins will be able to count on.
New England at Cincinnati
Look for a big day from Maroney.
Look for stinking Rudi Johnson to get back on track and get me 2 TD this week!!
Seattle at Chicago
Look for Alexander on the cover of Madden at a retail store near you!
Look for CHI to lose their 1st game because Thomas Jones just isn't running like he was last year.
Green Bay at Philadelphia
Look for yet another solid day from Favre...he just shines on Monday nights.
Look for Brian Westbrook to be in my starting lineup until his legs fall off....I'm tired of getting burned....another 120+ all purpose yards from him.

Well, sorry for the lame week. Hopefully our problems are fixed, and we can get on with it...OR...this won't post and then I'm retiring.
See you 2morrow night with my picks!

Internet Problems

It looks like the internet is not cooperating again, as it has taken me multiple tries to get to this site....and getting to my football reference sites is proving impossible.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but hopefully it will be resolved soon.
To keep you busy you can go back and read comments that I have posted in response to your comments....they're there.....one of them even justifies my claim that Simms has had flashes of brilliance!
I will try my best to get something up 2morrow...hopefully this problem is fixed soon.

This must be why this site is free.

Well I did try to add some updates (PROS and CONS and My weekly recap), but as I was trying to add it to the site I received an error message that my connection to blogger had been lost and all my updates were erased. It was pretty too...pictures and everything....I'm not doing it over so here is a condensed version:

Pros- Brett Favre Willie Parker Javon Walker

Cons- Mike Vick Frank Gore Chad Johnson

PRO OF THE WEEK Brian Westbrook

Weekly Update:

Carolina at Tampa Bay Look for the DeAngelo Williams project to take another step forward....and ahead of Foster.
NO WAY!!! Foster 82 yards, Williams -1!!!!

Look for Simms to throw his customary 3 INTs, and another rough day for Caddy.

Nope. Just one INT today. *After seeing this guy stick it out after taking the punishment he did, I might have to give him some credit.
Pete's Pick- CAR
Steve Smith was the shot in the arm this team needed.
1-0

Chicago at Minnesota Look for Grossman to stay solid this week....at least 2 TDs.
Nope..just one, and 2 INTs....BUT he did what he had to do to win.

Look for Thomas Jones to hit the endzone ths week. No again....just 54 yards!
Pete's Pick- CHI
It was closer than I thought it would be!
2-0

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh Look for a score from both Johnsons, and 2 TDs for Palmer if Houshy is back.
NOOOO! Rudi about lost it for me in my TD league...no TDs for Chad either...Houshy shined, or is it shone?

Look for Roethlisberger to still be rusty.

YEAH. This guy better get it going....where's Batch??
Pete's Pick- CIN
You had to know this game was going Cincy's way!
3-0

Green Bay at Detroit Look for another good game for Favre.....3 TDs.
Nailed it! And 340 yards to go with it!

Look for Kevin Jones to actually look good? Nice! 81 yards and a TD? He actually looked like an NFL RB.
Pete's Pick- GB
After what Grossman did to DET how could you not see this one coming?
4-0

Jacksonville at Indianapolis Look for JAX to give INDY a run for their money, and Wilford to be the 3rd best receiver on the team.
WRONG! I hate this guy...I pick him to do good and he doesn't I pick him to be the 3rd best WR and he's the best. Everyone, however, played in the shadow of this Jones-Drew fella!

Look for Manning to air it out again.....300 and 3 TDs. 219 and 1 TD? JAX's DF did another nice job.
Pete's Pick- IND
Good game. Just a couple of plays separated the Colts from taking their 1st loss.
5-0

N.Y. Jets at Buffalo Look for another solid day from sleeper Jerricho Cotchery, why? Because I picked him up!

NO! I should have known...I pick him up and get 33 yards for my trouble.
Look for both RBs to finally get a TD.
No again. McGahee is leading the league in rushing yards, but couldn't find the endzone with a compass and a road map! Barlow, however, did get his 6.Pete's Pick- NYJ
Nothing flashy, but they got the job done, and I go to...
6-0

Tennessee at Miami Look for Collins to get the start again.....and do what he's been doing!
Right! He just stinks! OK yards, but 2 INTs.....oh yeah, and another loss.

Look for Culpepper to stink, and Ronnie to shine! Yes. Time to bench C-pep. If you can't bust some serious yards on TEN you don't deserve to play. Brown didn't hit the endzone, but did rack up 90 yards rushing.
Pete's Pick- MIA
Got it right, but I really thought this was going to be a blowout!
7-0

Washington at Houston Look for some good OF output for the Skins. Brunell will get 2, and Portis will get 1.....at least.
NO. Brunell got 1, and Portis got 2. Got mixed up by my magic 8-ball.

Look for Moulds to outdo Johnson. NO way! Johnson's 152 yards was the best there.
Pete's Pick- WAS
I will always pick whoever is playing against the Texans....except maybe the Titans!
8-0

Baltimore at Cleveland Look for BAL to still not allow any TDs...thus
Wrong! They made Frye look like an all pro! What is going on???

Look for a plain horrible day for all CLE players. Wrong again! 298 passing yards from Frye and 116 receiving yards from Edwards...solid!
Pete's Pick- BAL
Took a last minute FG to make this pick right!!
9-0

N.Y. Giants at Seattle Look for a tight game with lots of points.
No...and yes. Lots of points, but this game wasn't even as close as the final score showed.

Look for Branch to be the 2nd behind D-Jax in production. NO. He comes in 5th behind Jackson and Engram Burelson and Heller?
Pete's Pick- SEA
The Giants just look terrible....they really should be 0-3!
10-0

Philadelphia at San Francisco Look for a TD apiece for the new dynamic duo (Stallworth and Brown)

NO. Stallworth didn't even play! I bet you fantasy owners just loved him for that! Brown didn't get a TD either.
Look for Gore to dip a little....toughest D faced so far. No....he dipped A LOT!!! 52 yards rushing....1 fumble and a strained belly? Ungood.
Pete's Pick- PHI
I'm becoming a Westbrook bandwagon fan....until he gets hurt, then I'm the 1st one off!
11-0

St. Louis at Arizona Look for Jackson to break 100 again!
Yes! But it was a combined rushing/receiving effort....121 yards.

Look for HUGE games for the 4 Cardinal fantasy starters......all of them! NO. Everyone looked pretty good...except Warner...make room for Matt!
Pete's Pick- ARI
They were supposed to drop some big-time points.....but they forgot.
11-1

Denver at New England Look for Plummer to struggle...again....I think it's all in his head now, dangerous.
Nope. 256 and 2 TDs. Nice day for the Snake.

Look for the NE RB duo to keep rolling! Ummmm.........no. 34 yards rushing.....COMBINED RUSHING!!!
Pete's Pick- NE
The Pats are hurting....sure 2-1, but none of their games have been pretty....have they?
11-2

Atlanta at New Orleans Look for some respect for Dunn, and another 100+ day!
44 yards? Who saw this kind of game for any ATL players?

Look for Bush to score this week....it's why the locals paid for tickets!
Nope.....pretty bad week for my in-game predictions.
Pete's Pick- ATL
Got to give some credit to the Saints....they came in riding a wave of emotion and made the 2-0 Falcons look like garbage!
Pete's final record for the week 11-3.
Pretty solid!

Editor's Note-
I would just like to thank Brees and McAllister for not having ANYTHING to do with the Saints 23 points.
Going into Monday night in my TD only league I was tied with my opponent, but I had home-field advantage giving me an additional point if we tie, so I would get the win.
The score was 19-19, but he had the afore mentioned players...I thought my day was done!
Thanks again guys for my 20-19 win! It may not be enough to stay #1 in the universe (see FFRankings.com on right), but it should keep me fairly close to the top!

See you all 2morrow.....if this thing actually posts!

Lastly you'll have to forgive the formatting of this post.....I don't know what's wrong with this stupid site.

Pete's Picks...Week 3.

Alright just two more days till we get to see some more football.
Great games this week....I don't think I'll be going 13-3 this week...especially since there are 4 byes.

Only got three (3???) hits yesterday and we're back to O comments around this place, but I'm going to continue to write for a while....we'll see what happens...it shouldn't all fall on AG to keep this place alive. If you're reading...let me know. I know you can't be agreeing with all of the things I'm writing!

Rant over, I'm ok now....back to the picks!

Carolina at Tampa Bay
This is just one of a handful of great games this Sunday.....oh wait.
Sure they're both 0-2, but this Carolina team (with or without Steve Smith) is way better than this Tampa Bay team. I'll say it again, they just have NO weapons. QB stinks, thus making the WRs suffer, and the RB is a ?. Carolina gets that first win.
CAR

Chicago at Minnesota
Alright here is a game that should be close....oh wait.
Sure they're both 2-0, but all of these wins have come from teams that still haven't won a game yet. Bottom line is, Chicago is going to take this game and it won't be as close as everyone it touting. Taylor will have a good game, but the passing game is going to suffer....and if Grossman can keep it going I'm going to go out and buy a jersey. I think they have them at JCPenny for $4.50 and there are racks of them!
CHI

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh
Now this will be a good game to watch.......oh nevermind.
Roethlisberger had a rough (understatement) outing last Monday, and look for it to continue this week. Sure the Steelers have a great DF, but they are going to be spending a lot of time on the field.....look for them to tire, and the Bengals to get a big win.
CIN

Green Bay at Detroit
Here's another 0-2/0-2 game this one will be good baby.....just kidding.
If the Lions can make Rex Grossman look like a younger Brett Favre, just think what they will make Brett Favre look like!! The Lions seem to have the swagger of a championship calliber team, except they are forgetting those one things that a champion needs....what are they called?....o yeah....WINS!
GB

Jacksonville at Indianapolis
Alright, enough goofing around...this IS going to be a good game.....for real.....that's it...good game.
Jax has the weapons, but not enough to beat this Colts team. Manning is going to drop some serious yards, but the Jags solid D is going to keep this game close. A still healthy Fred Taylor?? It's week 3! Shouldn't he be broken?
IND

N.Y. Jets at Buffalo
This game might actually be fun to watch because we might get some answers:
Is Pennington back, and are the NYJs WRs (Coles and Cotchery) going to keep it going?
Are Barlow and McGahee ever going to score again?
The answers are Yes, so actually don't watch this game....go spend time with the family, while this garbage is on.
NYJ

Tennessee at Miami
OK this is it! If Culpepper can't get it done this week, you need to drop him or see if you can trade him for David Carr. This is a good game for both teams. The Phins can get things going in some sort of winning direction, and the Titans can keep that #1 draft pick in their sites.
MIA

Washington at Houston
Just what the Dr. ordered for the Skins. Just like the Dolphins, if the Deadskins can't get things going this week they need to go ahead and start playing in the arena league. David Carr is again going to get some good points, but again it won't matter. Look for Washington to walk.
WAS

Baltimore at Cleveland
Oh boy am I glad I drafted the Raven's DF in both of my leagues. Is this a cake schedule so far or what?? The Browns offense is going to be dormant this week, as the Ravens go to 3-0. They really should just stay at home....or they could travel to Baltimore, say they were confused and thought it was an away game for them. That would be less embarrassing for them.
BAL

N.Y. Giants at Seattle
I'm seeing a lot of people picking the Giants after thier come from behind win, but I just don't think so. Good job NYG, you had a great comeback....but if you didn't stink up the stadium the entire first 3 quarters of the game you wouldn't have had to come back! The C-Hawks haven't looked all that impressive so far, but Branch is only going to make the team better....and I think he will push D-Jax to do better too.
SEA

St. Louis at Arizona
Arizona? Can I get a shootout this week?? I have Fitz in one leaguel, and Boldin in the other....if you could light it up this week it would be great! Fantasy wise I think this will be a nice game with big points for both teams. In real life I think the Cardinals are going to explode again...in a good way.
ARI

Philadelphia at San Francisco
Philly is coming off a tough loss, and if they slouch coming into SF they might get another L. Again, I really like where this 49er O is headed. Smith is absolutely in love with Bryant, and they have become a legit combo. It will be interesting to see Gore this week as he faces the toughest D they've seen so far. Don't worry McNabb....things will get back on track this week.
PHI

Denver at New England
Don't get me wrong...I'm NOT a Denver fan, but I think they are a better team than what they have shown. I also am not a New England fan, and they are not as good as their record shows.
Denver fans = spoiled
New England fans = whiney
Either way this game goes I have to listen to some type of garbage!
The Pats are hurting in the passing department, but can you give me a better RB combo in the NFL? Didn't think so.....get ready for some spoiled fan complaining!
NE

Atlanta at New Orleans
NFL Football is returning to NO for the first time since Hurrican Katrina.
Brees and Bush are making their debuts for the home crowd.
Two 2-0 teams facing each other with such emotion in the air.
This will be the feel-good story of the year........until the game starts.
The Saints have played no one worth a dime, and the Falcons are running ball all over the place.
Watch out for this Atlanta team....I hate to repeat myself, but Vickball is the difference in this team and the Falcon team of a year ago.
ATL

There's the picks for week 3!
Let's see how I do.

Pete's Week 3 all Fantasy Team:
QB- Donovan McNabb
RB1- Stephen Jackson
RB2- Ronnie Brown
WR1- Donald Driver
WR2- Anquan Boldin
TE- Alge Crumpler
K- David Akers
DF- Since I can't pick the Ravens....CAR

Alright...there it is...we've survived another week-long wait.
Enjoy...the games this week are going to be good.
See you Monday!

W.T.L.F. Week 3

Week number 3 is upon us.....almost.
Just 4 days away! Here is what you can be sure to see this week.

What To Look For: Week 3
*I'm taking it down a notch to just two predictions per game.....it's just too much the other way, and I just start thowing stuff out there, getting it wrong and then feeling bad about myself....

Carolina at Tampa Bay
Look for the DeAngelo Williams project to take another step forward....and ahead of Foster.
Look for Simms to throw his customary 3 INTs, and another rough day for Caddy.

Chicago at Minnesota
Look for Grossman to stay solid this week....at least 2 TDs.
Look for Thomas Jones to hit the endzone ths week.

Lots of updates today...check them both out!

Since you were all so understanding yesterday, I have given you a double dose today.
Lots of information for your enjoyment! 2 jam-packed posts!
I'm going to go take a nap now....I'm spent!

Week 3 Quick Hits (What you need to know before submitting your lineup!)

Due to the extensive week 2 recap (see post below), I am going to keep these hits quicker than usual!

Before we even get started YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR WEEK 3 BYES:
DALLAS
KANSAS CITY
OAKLAND
SAN DIEGO
If you have players on these teams...please don't start any of them. Start me, I will get you just as many points!

ATL K- Morten Andersen
He's 46, and now he's kicking for the Falcons.

DEN QB- Jake Plummer
No matter what the spoiled Denver fans want, Plummer is (and will be) the QB this season....for now.

PIT QB- Ben Roethlisberger
Still rusty. Start at your own risk.

CAR WR- Steve Smith
Getting 2nd opinion on his hamstring. Even if he somehow does play this weekend, you should let him sit on the bench.

SD QB- Billy Volek
Traded to the Chargers. IMO this drops Drew Bennets value, as he was Volek's go to guy.

NE RB- Corey Dillon
Dillon was aparently dinged up during the game on Sunday, but he seems to be fine.

WAS QB- Mark Brunell
Still going to be the starter according to Gibbs....terrible.

WAS RB- Clinton Portis
Says he'll play....just like he said last week. Keep a close eye on this.

TB QB- Chris Simms
Looks like he'll be starting this week, but it sounds like Gruden's patience is going to wear thin quick. If this guy is your fantasy QB, I am going to send AG to your house to rough you up.

TB RB- Carnell Williams
He says his back spasms are "not a problem". Hmm, then what is the problem? Because everyone with a TV sees that there is some sort of problem.
Playing CAR this week, if you can afford to bench this guy it may not be a bad idea until we see what the real deal is.

IND RB- Rhodes and Addai
Will continue to split carries. The lion's share going to whoever is "hot".

PIT WR- TJ Housemazoo
Is "reportedly" going to play this week. Please keep an eye on this, as we all know it could go either way.

HOU RB- 3-headed monster
Stay away....far away.

DAL WR- THE T.O.
Broken finger....successful surgery...may be back by week 5.

CIN WR- Chad Johnson
Hard hit. Hurt. Monitor.

NYG TE- Jeremy Shockey
Hurt ankle. Just a heads up.

OAK QB- Andew Walter
Probably the starter in week 4 after OAKs bye. I don't know why you would want a Raider, but just in case you like pain...here it is. Brooks is likely out for 2-4 weeks.

CAR WR- Drew Cater
Broke his finger. No surgery. Worth watching.

CLE TE- Kellen Winslow Jr
Is whining about how he isn't being used. He has played in just around 4 games in his career and already he's ready to step in as an offensive coordinator.....moron.....but he is right.

CAR RB- DeShaun Foster
Is still the number 1 RB according to John Fox. After Williams performance I can't help but wonder how long this will last.

IND K- Adam Vinatieri
Is getting an MRI on his groin....first the ankle now this.
Keep an eye out for the status of this MRI.

SEA WR- Deion Branch
Will be activated for the Seahawks week 3 game. Even though I don't own him, I'm excited to see how he does.

PHI TE- LJ Smith
AC sprain. Should be ok, as he played through it on Sunday.

PHI RB- Brian Westbrook
His knee is still bothering him, but he's been fine with it so far. I'll probably end up starting him as he plays the 49ers this week.

NYJ RB- Kevan Barlow
Looks like he will be the starter in week 3. If you desperate for filler....

MIA QB- Daunte Culpepper
Is reportedly not recovered completely from knee surgery.....this doesn't explain away all of the bad play....it just adds to it.

DEN WR- Rod Smith
Suffered a concussion.....watch.

DEN RB- Cedric Cobbs
Sprained ankle.....pretty bad.

PHI WR- Reggie Brown
Strained hammy....watch.

Well that's all I've got for now.
Did I miss anything?

There is a lot to keep up with, so if you see anything of importance let me know...I have to submit a lineup too you know!

NFL Recap Week TWO!!!

Two weeks are now in the books baby!
I'm now 2-0 in both of my leagues, and in my TD only league (Turf Burger) I was ranked 3 in the nation. After this week's win maybe I can claim the #1 spot!

You can view these rankings using the new link on the right->

Now that the week's action is done, let's see how I did with my WTLF predictions and weekly picks!

Week 2

HOU @ IND
Look for Houston to play catchup all day, making Lundy a bust this week.
Nailed IT! Houston was down all day, and all 3 RBs were busts. Lundy was the worst of the three only getting 25 yards!
Look for another solid day from Andre Johnson.
Push. Moulds actually had 3 more yards, but Johnson got that garbage time TD...decent day.
Look for the Colts running game to at least double their yardage from a week ago.
"Championship" This week's 119 yards from Rhodes and Addai more than doubled their week 1 output.
Look for Indy to drop a league high score this week.
RIGHT ON! The Colts 43 points led the league this week!
Pete's Pick Result
I picked INDY and I picked right, was there really any doubt though?
Not too much to brag about here.
1-0

DET @ CHI
Look for the Lions offense to be kept out of the endzone.
Wrong. Kitna did rush in a TD giving DET their 7 points, but they were so close to scoring 6783 points it isn't even funny
Look for Roy Williams to be held to less yards then he had last week (36).
NO! My homery ways led me to make this pick. Williams actually got 71 yards, but he still looked like an idiot....and he's still talking!
Look for Grossman to be back to form this week.
Super Wrong!...but I'm glad....can he do it against a real team?
Look for Thomas Jones to run better this week.
BEST PICK OF THE WEEK! Week one = 63 yards. Week two = 64 YARDS! Boy am I goooooood!
Pete's Pick Result
Picked Chicago....picked right. Chicago might be for real if that offense can keep going!
2-0

CLE @ CIN
Look for Winslow to get another TD. Can he finally get it together?
Nope. NO passing TDs from the Browns in this one.
Look for Droughns to get dropped from a lot of fantasy teams after week 2.
Maybe. 32 yards...bad, but he did hit the endzone. I just do not like this guy.
Look for Palmer to rebound nicely from last week's performance.
O Yeah. 352 yards and 2 TDs? Even with the 2 INTs this was a good game.
Look for Chad Johson to hit the endzone, and bust out with a new dance....and maybe a fine.
Push! He did hit the endzone, but the chicken dance? Come on Chad...the chicken dance is for Saturdays!
Pete's Pick Result
Picked right again, but with these games is that really worth mentioning?
3-0

CAR @ MIN
Look for Delhomme to continue to struggle without his go-to-guy.
RIGHT! 181 yards and no TDs. This guy better start begging Smith to return!
Look for more yards for Foster and a TD this week.
NO WAY! Foster looked bad, and in came Williams...could this be the beggining of the end for Foster?
Look for Troy Williamson to be the best WR on the field, especially if he can stop dropping the pill.
NO, but CLOSE! Four yards less than Keyshawn, but still another solid outing with 102 yards. I picked this kid up in both of my leagues.
Look for Chester Taylor to take a dip in his output from last week.
Not really. 88 and TD week one. 113 and no TD week 2. He did take a dip as far as points, but not in the yardage department.
Pete's Pick Result
Got this one right too! 4-0 so far on the week!

BUF @ MIA
Look for Losman to break 200 yards and a TD.
NO. He did get the TD, but 83 yards???
Look for McGahee's output to be less than last week.
Wrong! 91 is more than 70....right?
Look for C-pep to get it done without the meltdown this week.
VERY wrong. Should we throw in the towel on this guy yet? No probably not, but maybe soon.
Look for another 2 TDs from Ronnie Brown.
Wrong....you can look for another 2 TDs, but you won't find them this week!
Pete's Pick Result
WRONG! I gotta tell you, I didn't see this one coming.
Gotta give credit to the Bills, nothing flashy, but no TOs.
4-1

NO @ GB
Look for Bush and McAllister to hit paydirt.
NO. I think I got a little to bold on some of these picks. McAllister took both TDs for himself. Bush looked....off.
Look Horn to have the 2nd best receiving day on his team.
Wrong...again! I thought Bush would out-do him this week.
Look for another solid day from A. Green.
Push. 42 yards rushing, 48 yards receiving....decent.
Look for Favre to throw more INTs than TDs.....again.
I am stinking up the place!!! 3 TDs...1 INT.
Pete's Pick Result
At least I picked something right with this game!
5-1

NYG @ PHI
I'm a Tiki believer....look for another 100+ yard day.
BOO! 51 yards....I quit.
Look for 3 points to be the difference.
NO! OT means a FG for the win right? Thanks Plax!
Look for Stallworth and Brown to have HUGE games...this is the next dynamic duo!
Naw. They didn't have huge games, but they did score the two receiving TDs.
Look for McNabb to shine again.
Yep. Despite the team effort to lose this game McNabb did look good! 350 passing and 2 TDs.
Pete's Pick Result
Wrong! Great game. I should have gotten this one right, but who can argue with that finish?
5-2

OAK @ BAL
Look for another goose-egg from the Raiders.
NO goose-egg here, they dropped a big 6 on the Ravens.
That's it....no points....what else can I say?
Look for a DF TD from BAL.
NO, but the DF did score 2 points.
Look for Jamal Lewis to continue his comeback.
No. 70 yards....not great, but at least he's getting something done.
Pete's Pick Result
This was really another no-brainer. The Raiders just keep getting worse.
6-2

TB @ ATL
Look for Caddy's back spasms to limit his output big-time.
YES. 37 yards? Time to start worrying.
Look for Simms to get more yards than last week, but still no TDs.
Nailed it! 313 yards this week, but now he's got 3 INTs per game with still no TDs.
Look for TB to go 0-2.
YEP. They just have no weapons right now.
Look for Vick to run in one and hit Crumpler for the other.
no. He did run one in, but his passing TD went to McCrary....who?
Pete's Pick Result
The Falcons are looking good now that Vick is allowed to do what he does best.
7-2

ARI @ SEA
Look for the QBs to combine for 500+ yards.
452 yards.....close, but not quite.
Look for Boldin and Fitz to get it done again this weekend.
They actaully slumped this week, neither broke 70 yards or a TD.
Look for Alexander to shake the Madden curse this week.
89 yards and a TD. He can do better, but at least he's improving.
Look for a league high combined points....shoot-out baby!
Not really the game I was hoping for. 31 combined points...10 other games and 5 other teams had more than 31.
Pete's Pick Result
The Seahawks got the offense going a little bit in this one and got me the win.
8-2

STL @ SF
Look for another shoot-out....Curtis will get his!
NO shoot out, and I'm done with you Curtis. You keep making me look bad. 13 yards!
Look for Steven Jackson to keep it up....not another 121 yards though.
103 yards! Boy am I glad Martz is gone.
Look for Gore to get it done again baby!
127 rushing and a TD. This guy has been solid gold so far!
Look for the 49ers to get the W.
Told you.
Pete's Pick Result
I went out on a limb on this one, but I got to be honest...I reallly like where this SF offense is going.
9-2

KC @ DEN
Look for KC to look just horrible w/o Green.
This whole game was horrible...except for LJ.
Look for Larry Johnson to get a ton of carries, but still struggle.
No way. He got the carries, but 127 yards to go with it.
Look for less output form the Bellboys.
Yeah. They both took a hit and dipped this week.
Look for Javon Walker to have the best WR #s on the field...now stop dropping the stinking ball!
Yeah, yeah dog! 79 yards led all WRs...pathetic!
Pete's Pick Result
I picked the Broncos to win, and they did....they both looked really bad though.
10-2

NE @ NYJ
Look for big running days for the NE backs again.
yes. Dillon, 85 and a TD. Maroney, 65 and a TD. I can't wait for Maroney to take over!
Look for nothing special from Brady.
Yep. 220, a TD and an INT. I'm not sold on this team making the playoffs.
Look for Pennington to have another good game.
Yes sir. 306 yards...2 TDs and one INT. If he can stay healthy this team may actually have some fantasy worthy players. I picked up Cotchery(121 and a TD) just in case.
Look for this game to actually be close.
Just a TD difference. A year ago this would have been a stomping.
Pete's Pick Result
The Patriots got me the win, and my strong week continues:
11-2

TEN @ SD
Look for Collins to do better this week...but,
Terrible. He got anohter 2 INTs, but instead of 223 yards he got 57....and he's actually going to get another start???
Look for TEN to have as much trouble finding the endzone as I do benching 100 lbs.
I'm taking this one. Young got a garbage TD to Bennett when the score was 33-0
Look for Tomlinson to break 100 and a TD....or two.
Right! 71 Rushing, 51 Receiving, 2 TDs AND his backup dropped 138 rushing to go with it!
Look for Rivers to look servicable again.
YES! 235 and a TD. As long as this guy can keep from losing the game for his team the Chargers are going to run away with this division!
Pete's Pick Result
Was there a lot of easy picks this week, or was it just me?
12-2

WAS @ DAL
Look for WAS to go 0-2.
O yeah. Washington is hurtin'.
Look for Brunell to continue to struggle despite a good group of WRs.
I don't care what anyone says...he has the WRs...but still only managed 197 and an INT.
Look for Bledsoe to rebound nicely.
237 and 2 TDs? Nice.
Look for TO to get 2?
Two what? Two points? nope he got 1. Two receptions? close, he got 3....and now he's out. I'm so glad I passed on this guy.
Pete's Pick Result
Dallas gets back on track, and I keep rolling.
13-2

PIT @ JAX
Look for Big Ben to have a bad game.
141 and 2 INTs. Why does it seem like everyone knew it was a bad idea to start this guy....except for the one who actually started him.
Look for a low scoring game.
Called it again! 9-0.....not flashy, but a good DF game.
Look for Fred Taylor to struggle.
Not really. 92 yards against this D is nothing to sneeze at.
Wilford will outdo Matt Jones this week....mark it down!
I'm off the Wilford wagon too....making me look bad!
Pete's Pick Result
Well I couldn't finish the week with another W. I really wanted to pick JAX, but PIT just kept getting it done. Oh well.
Final week tally:
13-3...not bad!

Pete's Picks All Fantasy Team.
Week 2 Results:

QB- P. Manning- 400 yds and 3 TDs. Best in the league.
RB1- LaDanian Tomlinson- 71rush/51rec and 2 TDs. If he would have played the whole game imagine the stat line!
RB2- Shuan Alexander- 89rush/1TD. Not his best, but improved.
WR1- Larry Fitzgerald- 59rec. Dipped this week.
WR2- Antonio Bryant- 131rec/1TD. If this guy is somehow available...pick him up NOW!
TE- Kellen Winslow Jr.- 42rec. Got a little too excited after week 1 solid outing.
K- Jeff Reed- The Steelers shutout? Bad call.
DF- BAL- Held OAK to 6 points with 3 INTs and 3 Fumbles? SOLID.

All in all I don't think I did too bad this week.
I would have done better making predictions without my homery ways and emotions.....maybe next time.
Probably not.

Tuesday, September 19, 2006

Sorry. No updates today.

I know Tuesday is an important update day (coming off Monday night Football and everything), but there was no way to get an update out.....a situation arose.
I will, however, double up tonight and get both Monday and Tuesday night editions out!

Sorry for the inconvenience,
Pete

Week 2 Pros and Cons

Sunday's Pros

Passing Pros
Peyton Manning:
300 yards is a great day at the office. What is 400 yards? CRAZY.
Manning had his way with the Texans DF and dropped 400 and 3 TDs...how can you not love this guy and his laser-rocket arm?

Eli Manning:
Forget the 371 yards and 3 TDs, the fact that I (and everyone I have talked to) wrote this team off by the 4th Qtr and Manning led his team back. There is some crazy DNA in this family....if I could bottle that stuff....ewww.

Notables:
Brett Favre- 3 TDs with 340 yards. Too bad he didn't leave GB and go to a contender in Chicago!
Rex Grossman- 289 yards, and 4 TDs. I don't like my emotions toyed(sp) with like this.
Chris Simms- Brilliant!! Sorry, I couldn't help myself!

Rushing Pros
Rudi Johnson- I have this guy in my TD only league, and he does nothing but put up #s. He helped me drop a 45-11 point beatdown on my wife! YES! 145 yards and 2 TDs for the second week in a row....keep that up!

SD RBs- LT2 got his two TDs and 71 yards, and then Michael Turner came in and racked up 138 yards. How's that TEN run defense?? Maybe they'll make Ronnie Brown look like a stud next week.

Warrick Dunn- I really wanted to predict that Dunn would outdo last week's numbers, but I thought that would just be too much to expect. Well two yards later and he's dropped a week two 134 yards to go with his week one 132 yards. Without an Alstott or a Duckett to take carries this guy is going off big time!

Notables:
Frank Gore- Got it done again....did I mention I drafted him in both my leagues?
Michael Vick- RB? No. 127 rushing yards? Yes.

Receiving Pros
Joey Galloway- This guy is just OLD, but he got it done again today. 161 yards...nothing to sneeze at!

Donald Driver- 153 yards for Favre's main target. No TDs this week, but obviously Favre's go-to-guy.

Amani Toomer- Another old guy, another good day. This guy was the double threat with not only the yards, but also the TDs. (137/2)

Notables:
Antonio Bryant- I called it, Alex Smith's new security blanket dropped 131 yards and a TD.
Darrell Jackson- What hammy? Maybe the signing of Branch will push Jackson to perform. (127 yards with a TD)

Kicking Pros?
Sorry I just can't do it, but a big shout out to Ackers for trying to beat up the Giants.....moron.

Sunday's Cons

Passing Con
Lot's of nominees today:
JP Losman- 83 yards and a TD
Michael Vick- 92 yards a TD and an INT
But their teams won, so the award goes to:
Oakland's Andrew Walter- 162 yards, 0 TDs, 3 INTs....just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for the Raiders...yuck.

Rushing Con
Runners-up:
Ahman Green- 42 yards and a fumble. So much for last week.
Cadillac Williams- 37 yards. The wheels are starting to fall off!
Winner:
Detriot's Kevin Jones- Yes it was against the toughest DF, but when are we going to stop giving this guy 2nd chances to burn us fantasy owners? 44 yards and 2 fumbles...let me know when we can officially call this guy a bust...again!

Receiving Con
Nominees:
TO- Bledsoe was back on his game this week, but TO only had 3 Rec and 19 yards and a broken finger to show for it....thanks a lot!
Tony Gonzalez- Who said the injury to Green was actually going to help Gonzo? Some idiot on the NFLN. 2 rec, 7 yards....ungood.
The Winner:
Brandon Lloyd- I was big on this guy in SF and looked like a big dummy. Now he's in WAS with a bad QB. 1 rec, 6 yards....maybe he should have stayed in SF.

Pete's Picks...Week 2

Alright something is wrong with my blog, but hopefully this will post...if not I'm sure I'll here about it later!

Before my picks here are a few hot items:

-I keep getting different stories regarding Deion Branch with the latest report saying that he probably will play, but with the uncertainty AND the fact that he's learning a new system it might be wise to have him sit this week....or it might be stupid.

-Don't use Mike Vanderjagt this week.....trust me. Dallas may keep two kickers active for week 2.

-Carnell Williams is still having problems with his back. You better make sure he's playing before you submit him in your lineup.

-Brian Westbrook is about as durable as a raw egg, and he left practice early with knee problems and is probable. Given his health issues you better monitor this before submitting your lineup as well. I will be benching him in my work league for Frank Gore just to be sure......Gore's a stud anyway.

-TJ Houshmandzadeh has become a ? as well.

As always track these situations!

Here are my week 2 NFL picks for those of you going to Vegas this weekend.

BUF @ MIA
Losman just plain stinks, and Miami has too many weapons.
C-pep will only continue to improve.
MIA

CAR @ MIN
This one's easy. It looks like Steve Smith won't be playing.
No Smith = No win.
MIN

CLE @ CIN
Cleveland couldn't do anything against a sub-playoff team last week, expect more of the same when they head to Cincy. The Bengals will roll!
CIN

DET @ CHI
Many are actually picking DET to win because of what the DF did to SEA last week.
I'm not buying it, we all know it's the CHI D that wins the games.
CHI

HOU @ IND
I hope the Colts and Bengals are enjoying their bye-weeks.
IND's running game is in a state of emergency, but Manning will have a field day.
IND

NO @ GB
NO actaully let CLE drop 14 points on them, so GB will get theirs. The fact that GBs DF actually made Grossman look like an actual NFL QB make me think Brees and co. will drop some serious points.
NO

NYG @ PHI
Here's another good scoring game. I'm really big on PHIs passing game, but the Giants have an impressive squad as well.
I like the Eagles in a close one.
PHI

OAK @ BAL
I like nothing about the Raiders. Even Lamont Jordan is losing his value over last year. Meanwhile the Ravens looked good week 1, and Lewis should have another solid game.
BAL

TB @ ATL
I don't know what Gruden sees in Simms, but I just don't think they can win with this guy....he has flashes of brilliance, but nothing to carry a team. ATL is moving in the right direction, and I think they will be in the mix all year.
ATL

ARI @ SEA
As a fantasy owner I love me some offense, and this game is going to have plenty.
I don't think Hasselbeck and company are going to allow what happened to them last week to happen again.
SEA in a shootout.

STL @ SF
I hear everyone saying the Rams are going to win this because of what their DF did last week. Well SF held up with ARI alright, and their DF isn't a group of special kids. I think SF will not only hang with the Rams, but they will win this game.
SF

KC @ DEN
I really think the Cheifs look like a mess right now, and the injury to Green obviously makes them worse. The Broncos (mostly Plummer) are desperate to get rid of what happened in week 1, and try to keep pace in this suddenly suspect division.
DEN

NE @ NYJ
NE looked just plain bad last week. Maybe putting the team before the players is starting to catch up with them. Pennington looked like a premier stud last week, and if he can keep it up the city of Boston is going to have two things to whine about.
NE in a close one.

TEN @ SD
As a Tomlinson owner I love this game. The Titans are in a rebuilding year behind a QB who never was really all that good. If Rivers can become an above average QB, the Chargers are going to be big-time contenders.
SD

WAS @ DAL
Bledsoe is in the same boat as Plummber....he better get it done soon. Washington's got all the pieces; RB, WRs, DF....what's missing? A QB who can break 200 yards and a TD every once in a while. Bledsoe rebounds, and the Skins go to 0-2.
DAL

PIT @ JAX
No disrespect to the defending SuperBowl champions, but I'm just not sold on a repeat. It looks like Roethlisberger may actually play, but with what Batch did last week why rush? The Jaguars have a healthy Fred Taylor(for now), good receivers and their DF is impressing......but the Steelers keep getting it done, so...
PIT

Pete's Week 2 all Fantasy Team:
(Please note I am not taking more than 1 player from any team, and I won't bestow this honor two weeks in a row)
QB- P. Manning
RB1- LaDanian Tomlinson
RB2- Shuan Alexander
WR1- Larry Fitzgerald
WR2- Antonio Bryant
TE- Kellen Winslow Jr.
K- Jeff Reed
DF- BAL

There you go.
Hope you have enjoyed this week's editions.
Make sure to get all your lineups in, and have a great weekend.
Enjoy the games, and I'll see you Sunday night!

Pete

What to look for - Week TWO

Week number 2 in the NFL is just days away, and you need to know what you can look for this weekend.
Before we get to WTLF, here are a few important player updates:

Ben Roethlisberger practiced Wednesday, so it looks like he's a go.
Steve Smith did not practice....he probably won't play.
Mike Holmgren is looking for Deion Branch to sit this week as he continues to learn the system.
Mike Vanderjagt is off the injury report, so he should be on the field this weekend.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Hines Ward are both listed as probable.
The Texans and Packers traded RBs on Wednesday. Houston receives Samkon Gado, and the Packers get Vernand Morency. This trade actually helps the fantasy value of both players. Gado should get into the mix as a part of the RBBC situation in Houston....if he shines (like he has in the past) who knows where it could go. Morency is again playing back up, but if Ahman Green stays healthy for the whole season it will be a surprise.

WTLF- WEEK 2

HOU @ IND
Look for Houston to play catchup all day, making Lundy a bust this week.
Look for another solid day from Andre Johnson.
Look for the Colts running game to at least double their yardage from a week ago.
Look for Indy to drop a league high score this week.

DET @ CHI
Look for the Lions offense to be kept out of the endzone.
Look for Roy Williams to be held to less yards then he had last week (36).
Look for Grossman to be back to form this week.
Look for Thomas Jones to run better this week.

CLE @ CIN
Look for Winslow to get another TD. Can he finally get it together?
Look for Droughns to get dropped from a lot of fantasy teams after week 2.
Look for Palmer to rebound nicely from last week's performance.
Look for Chad Johson to hit the endzone, and bust out with a new dance....and maybe a fine.

CAR @ MIN
Look for Delhomme to continue to struggle without his go-to-guy.
Look for more yards for Foster and a TD this week.
Look for Troy Williamson to be the best WR on the field, especially if he can stop dropping the pill.
Look for Chester Taylor to take a dip in his output from last week.

BUF @ MIA
Look for Losman to break 200 yards and a TD.
Look for McGahee's output to be less than last week.
Look for C-pep to get it done without the meltdown this week.
Look for another 2 TDs from Ronnie Brown.

NO @ GB
Look for Bush and McAllister to hit paydirt.
Look Horn to have the 2nd best receiving day on his team.
Look for another solid day from A. Green.
Look for Favre to throw more INTs than TDs.....again.

NYG @ PHI
I'm a Tiki believer....look for another 100+ yard day.
Look for 3 points to be the difference.
Look for Stallworth and Brown to have HUGE games...this is the next dynamic duo!
Look for McNabb to shine again.

OAK @ BAL
Look for another goose-egg from the Raiders.
That's it....no points....what else can I say?
Look for a DF TD from BAL.
Look for Jamal Lewis to continue his comeback.

TB @ ATL
Look for Caddy's back spasms to limit his output big-time.
Look for Simms to get more yards than last week, but still no TDs.
Look for TB to go 0-2.
Look for Vick to run in one and hit Crumpler for the other.

ARI @ SEA
Look for the QBs to combine for 500+ yards.
Look for Boldin and Fitz to get it done again this weekend.
Look for Alexander to shake the Madden curse this week.
Look for a league high combined points....shoot-out baby!
I hope this game is televised....my luck it will be the KC/DEN game!

STL @ SF
Look for another shoot-out....Curtis will get his!
Look for Steven Jackson to keep it up....not another 121 yards though.
Look for Gore to get it done again baby!
Look for the 49ers to get the W.

KC @ DEN
Look for KC to look just horrible w/o Green.
Look for Larry Johnson to get a ton of carries, but still struggle.
Look for less output form the Bellboys.
Look for Javon Walker to have the best WR #s on the field...now stop dropping the stinking ball!

NE @ NYJ
Look for big running days for the NE backs again.
Look for nothing special from Brady.
Look for Pennington to have another good game.
Look for this game to actually be close.

TEN @ SD
Look for Collins to do better this week...but,
Look for TEN to have as much trouble finding the endzone as I do benching 100 lbs.
Look for Tomlinson to break 100 and a TD....or two.
Look for Rivers to look servicable again.

WAS @ DAL
Look for WAS to go 0-2.
Look for Brunell to continue to struggle despite a good group of WRs.
Look for Bledsoe to rebound nicely.
Look for TO to get 2?

PIT @ JAX
Look for Big Ben to have a bad game.
Look for a low scoring game.
Look for Fred Taylor to struggle.
Wilford will outdo Matt Jones this week....mark it down!

Agree, Disagree?
Man up, and let's hear it now.....not after the action!

Thanks anonymous groupey!

Following the advice of anonymous groupey, I have decided to post and follow a schedule of events for the week.
If you look on the right you will see what I have planned for each night of the week.
Keep in mind these updates usually happen between midnight and 4am, so you won't get Sunday night updates until really early Monday morning, and so on.
ALSO....the term "Studs" and "Duds" is just overused, but I can't think of anything else to use....if you have any replacement ideas let me know.

If you have any suggestions, or something you would like to see...let me know...I would be happy to oblige.

See you 2morrow!

Week 2 Quick Hits (What you need to know before submitting your lineup)

Well week one is in the books.
Time to stop whining about your losses and bragging about your wins, it's now time to get ready for week 2!

OAK QB- Aaron Brooks
Sacked 7 times?? Let's not place all the blame for Oakland's terrible game on Brooks. The entire team looked like trash, and now Brooks may be out with a bruised knee. He's getting an MRI done this week, but even if he is a go he is bound to get broken with that pass protection.

KC QB- Trent Green
That was a rough hit. Whenever a player goes limp like that and doesn't move for as long as he did, it's a bad bad thing. Good news is Green is looking to be back after KC's bye week(3). Obviously you need to go in another direction for the next couple of weeks. Some are saying KC may try to trade for Volek, but if not, look for Huard to get the nod.

PIT QB- Ben Roethlisberger
Roethlisberger says he wants to play. Most people close to the situation believe he will play, but with Batch's week 1 performance there isn't a need to unnecessarily rush things. Right now he is listed as questionable.....keep an eye on this as a starter will be named "later in the week".

TEN QB- Kerry Collins
Jeff Fisher is going with Collins for week 2. In bigger news; if he is your fantasy starting QB you need to take up a new interest.

DAL QB-Drew Bledsoe
Even though Bledsoe looked terrible, Parcells says he isn't going to bench him in favor of Romo.....yet. I can't remember the last time I saw a guy projected to have a better than decent year fall so fast. If he's your starter don't panic until next week.

DEN QB- Jake Plummer
Take away Bledsoe's TD and over 100 yards of his passing and you are left with...Jake Plummer. Again I wouldn't start freaking out just yet, but Denver fans and writers are one of the most spoiled groups in all of American Sports. I can hear it now if Plummer has another bad week, the entire state calling for Jay Cutler.....great.

PIT RB- Willie Parker
It looks like Najeh Davenport may be active for the Steelers Monday night game against Jacksonville. This may or may not be big news, it just depends on how much endzone action he takes from Parker....all Parker owners need to keep an eye on this. If Davenport looks to steal a good chunk, you might be able to get a quick trade done with one of the "special" owners in your league.....you know the ones.

PHI RB- Brian Westbrook
Due to injury it looks like Westbrook will be the team's punt returner in week 2. Every time he's on the field I get scared he is going to break like an egg...due to his past, this just screams of injury.

NE RB- Kevin Faulk
Faulk may see some decent time at receiver now that Branch is officially gone.

TB RB- Carnell Williams
Williams was experiencing back spasms in camp, and they're still bothering him. He should play, but if you own him you better keep a close eye on this one.

WAS RB- Clinton Portis
Nothing too flashy, but at least he played. Those of you who picked him up late because people like me were scared may have gotten yourself a steal. He looks to be 100%.

DEN RB- The Bell boys
Tatum is going to get the start, and Mike has a fractured finger. That said, they are both going to see action according to Shanahan(Mike Bell "should be able" to play). Whoever "gets a hot hand" will see the bulk of the action. Who will that be? You tell me.

BUF RB- Willis McGahee
His poor outing may have to do with an ankle he twisted. He's looking to be day-to-day, so watch his status this week.

SF RB- Frank Gore
I drafted him in both of my leagues. No news here, I just want to look smart. Those of you who scoffed will be believers!

TEN RB-
What a mess. Who knows where the pieces are going to fall when White gets himself into the mix. Don't start these guys unless you are just that desperate.

SEA WR- Deion Branch
HUGE news for Branch owners....here is anohter guy I passed on because I was scared, and I'm kicking myself now. Not POSITIVE if he's playing this week or not, but I'll try to keep you posted. Darrell Jackson and Nate Burleson owners need to watch how this all plays out for them. BTW Jackson is still having some problems with his knee, but he should play.

OAK WR- Jerry Porter
Is he going to NE? Maybe, but he's not there yet, and he's not helping his cause by being an idiot. Might be nice to stash him on your bench if you have the room.

GB WR- Koren Robinson
If Robinson can stay sober, he might be available for week 2. It's still to be seen if the NFL is going to suspend him, so it's best to stay away for now.

DET WR- Roy Williams
He's an idiot. As a Chicago fan, I'm glad he's providing bulliten-board material to a defense that really doesn't need it.

CAR WR- Steve Smith
Still not practicing, and he won't until they know he's ready to go. His absence is killing the Panthers and his fantasy owners. If you own him you obviously need to see if he practices Wednesday.

DEN WR- Javon Walker
Walker sustained a "slightly dislocated" finger in week one. Does this explain the drops? I hope so. He should be good to go week 2 against the Chiefs.

CIN WR- TJ Housemanilly
Houshmazoo looks to be back in the lineup week 2 IF he practices this week.

NYJ WR- Jerricho Cotchery
He's getting the pay-dirt love, and he's probably still on your waiver-wire. Worth a sniff if you have room on your team.

SF WR- Antonio Bryant
Another guy worth a look if he's available and you have space. He won't break 100 yards and a TD every week, but he does look to be the go-to-guy for Alex Smith.....is that saying much?

DAL K- Mike Vanderjagt
Vanderjagt was cleared by trainers to play in week 2, but Parcells is now worried about Vanderjagt mentally! Take a number Bill, we're all worried. If you own this guy, you need to watch the situation......and maybe try to get another, more stable, kicker.

PHEW!
A lot of news this week, and a lot of stories to follow.
If I've missed anything of value, please let me know!

NFL WEEK ONE RECAP.

Well 6 days ago I went out on a limb and made some BOLD predictions for week one.
16 games later how do I look? Let's find out!

MIA @ PIT
Look for C-pep to look more like the QB of old.
WRONG! 262 yards aint bad, but his melt down with 6 minutes left killed him and the Dolphins!
Look for Ronnie Brown to hit a snag on his quest to be a top 5 RB...thus..
RIGHT! Sure he got 2 TDs, and that's great...but 30 yards on 15 carries? Math majors, that's only 2 yards per...not going to get it done.
Look for Willie Parker to out-produce Brown.
WRONG! OK Brown only got 30 yards and Parker got 115, but those TDs give the edge to Brown.
Look for Hines Ward to play, but not break 70 yards or a TD.
WRONG AGAIN! I was right about the yards...he only got 53 (good call), but he did get that back of the endzone score.

BAL @ TB
Look for McNair to Mason all day long.
??? Well I guess we should define "all day long" Mason didn't get the most receiving yards, but he did have the 2nd most receptions! So, RIGHT!
Look for Jamal Lewis to look like the Jamal Lewis we have seen over the past couple of years.
WRONG! I'm pretty bad at this....he had a decent game. Didn't break 100, but did get a TD.
Look for Joey Galloway NOT to pick up where he left off last season.
RIGHT! Did this guy even show up?
Look for Cadillac to worry his fantasy owners.
RIGHT AGAIN! Nailed it! 22 yards rushing? 25 receiving? I'd be worried too!

ATL @ CAR
Look for Michael Vick to be a better Madden QB than NFL QB.
RIGHT! 140 yards and 2 TDs passing with 48 yards rushing? I can drop 500 total yards with him in Madden!
Look for Dunn's owners to not miss TJ Duckett....at all.
NAILED IT! Led the league with 132 yards....this is HIS year...until Norwodd takes over.
Look for DeShaun Foster to hurt.......something.
RIGHT! He hurt his fantasy owner with only 74 combined yards.
Look for Steve Smith's hammy to hinder his production.
NAILED IT! Guy didn't even play....may not play again this week!

BUF @ NE
Look for Losman to stay undrafted in ALL fantasy football leagues.
BETTER BE RIGHT! If you own him....go punch yourself in the eye.
Look for Willis McGahee to struggle.
PUSH! 74 total yards and no TDs? I think this is a disappointment.
Look for Brady to miss Branch.....no.....nevermind.
PUSH! This could go either way...his yards were down, but he spread tha ball around anyway and got the win...
Look for Dillon or Moroney...or both...to have big games.
Right. Both were around the 90 total yard mark.

CIN @ KC
Look for fantasy owners who passed on Palmer (before his GB game) to kick themselves...hard.
WRONG! I passed on him for McNabb, and I'm feeling fine.
Look for Chad Johnson to out perform Housyourmama.
Houshy didn't even play....RIGHT!
Look for Larry Johnson to come back to earth.....next week.
WRONG! He came back to earth this week...look for him to stay here!
Look for the KC WRs to do next to nothing....now that's going out on a limb.
NAILED IT! 69 yards from the 3 KC WRs, but this was like taking candy from a baby.

DEN @ STL
Look for Denver to light up the scoreboard like a Christmas tree.
RIGHT!....if it was the Charlie Brown Christmas tree.
Look for Javon Walker to put up the biggest WR #s on the field.....except for Holt.
WRONG! He finished behind all three STL WRs....who knew he was going to drop everything thrown at him?
Look for Stephen Jackson to start off 2006 really slow.
REALLY WRONG! 121 yards later I look like an idiot!
Look for Kevin Curtis to outperform all but 2 WRs on the field.
Mr. Curtis? Paging Mr. Curtis? WRONG!

NO @ CLE
Look for Brees' shoulder to be fine.
PUSH. Fine enought to beat the Browns...big deal.
Look for both NO RBs to have good games.
RIGHT! 90 yards for McAllister and 119 yards from scrimmage for Bush...pretty solid.
Look for Droughns to have a rough day at the office.
NAILED IT! 27 yards? Whoever started this little bandwagon should be thrown under it.
Look for Winslow Jr. to not hurt himself......maybe.
RIGHT...kind of! 63 yards and a his first NFL TD.

NYJ @ TEN
Look for a NY QB or a TEN RB to get hurt.
WRONG...for now. But I'm still waiting.
Look for Blaylock to have a decent game thus getting picked up off the waiver-wire before some dumb fantasy owner realizes that this game was against the Titans.
WRONG! Even against the Titans he stunk, anyone who picks him up needs to be slapped.
Look for Collins to start, and Volek to pout.
RIGHT! If you can call that starting.
Look for Brown to be the 2nd best RB on his team.
Right! Sure he had more rushing yards than Henry, but Henry got the goal line love with 2 TDs!

PHI @ HOU
Look for McNabb to be back to form. (Because I drafted him in my keeper league....Turf Burger....see link on right)
NAILED IT! This is why I win games.....keep it up!
Look for Westbrook's foot to cause him trouble. (Because I drafted him in my work league)
WRONG! But it's ok cause I wanted to be wrong!
Look for the 3-headed monster that is the Texans RB committee.
WRONG! IT was only 2 headed, but it still stunk!
Look for Mario Williams to get less rushing yards than Reggie Bush.
RIGHT! He's not going to get anything done at RB! What were the Texans thinking?

SEA @ DET
Look for Alexander to run all day long.
WRONG?? How can this be? The Lions? Madden Curse is in effect!!!!
Look for Burleson to be at least the 2nd best SEA WR this week.
NOPE! He only had ONE catch! It was for 36 yards, but come on!
Look for Kitna to throw two TDs.
WRONG! This game stunk!
Look for Kevin Jones to continue to be Kevin Jones.
RIGHT! His supporters are starting to sound like Cubs fans....wait til next year.

CHI @ GB
Look for Grossman to do nothing to help his case in the CHI QB controversy.
WRONG! As a Bears fan hopefully this wasn't a fluke....but it probably was.
Look for Jones to run like a mad man.
RIGHT! If mad men are mediocre NFL rushers.
Look for Favre to hate his decision to return already.
RIGHT! Now he just wants to go out there and have fun....yeah losing 26-0 looks like fun.
Look for Driver to be the only fantasy worthy player on the team.
WRONG! Ahman Green did have a nice game gaining 110 yards.

DAL @ JAX
Look for TO to be forgiven for all his preseason drama with a big game.
I HOPE SO! I'm tired of seeing this guy on my TV every day.
Look for Vanderjagt to be drunk on the side-lines.
RIGHT! Did you see him stumbling around?
Look for Taylor to have a good game this week, and a broken leg the next.
RIGHT ON HALF! Still waiting for the 2nd half...it will happen!
Look for Wilford to out-perform the much hyped Matt Jones.
WRONG! Jones got 7 more yards than Wilford. (if you take away the 6 yards he lost on that rush)

SF @ ARI
Look for Alex Smith to struggle.......some more.
WRONG! He looked solid...something to keep an eye on.
Look for Frank Gore to get it done.....while it's close.
RIGHT! Drafted him in both my leagues....I'm smart.
Look for Warner to Boldin and Fitzgerald....and ARI to score a league high.
SUPER NAILED IT!! What an air attack, and their 34 points lead the league!
Look for Edge to have a great game as well, just to struggle next week against SEA.
RIGHT...so far.

IND @ NYG
Look for Manning to win.
RIGHT...was there ever any doubt?
Look for this game to not be as close as most would lead us to believe....there's a reason Peyton sells me cell phones and sports drink.
WRONG! Close game...could have even gone the other way if that bogus offensive pass-interference call didn't happen!
Look for Manning to lose.
RIGHT, but again it was close.
Look for Tiki to start showing his age.
If showing your age means busting 110 yards then I am RIGHT, but it doesn't, so I'm WRONG!

MIN @ WAS
Look for Brad Johnson to be outperformed by Brunell.
WRONG! What was I thinking...Brunell stinks!
Look for a busy day for Longwell.
PUSH. 9 points.....10 if his holder could do his job.
Look for Portis.....on the side-line.
RIGHT. When the defense was on the field.
Look for WAS WRs to make Brunell look draftable....but don't do it.
WRONG! Even with a good crop of receivers Brunell still only managed 163 yards.

SD @ OAK
Look for LT2 to get it done, but....
NAILED IT! Thank you LT2! 131 yards and a TD? He got it done!
Look for LT2, Gates and the entire San Diego area to miss Brees.
WRONG. Rivers didn't do much, but he didn't lose it for them.
Look for Brooks to Moss for a couple of scores.
WRONG!!! Hmmm Zero points equals how many scores?
Look for Janikowski to be fat......and maybe hung over.
??? Maybe he wasn't drunk, but I KNOW he's fat!

Well all in all I don't think I did too bad, but there is room for improvement!
What a crazy week one.
I won in both of my leagues, let's hope I can keep this thing going.

Check back tomorrow for some more updates!!!

TODAY IS THE DAY!!!

7 months we have waited, and it's here!!!
Now I hate to share this, but I have found out I have to tape the game and watch it later tonight!
Why tape it you ask?
Because it was either an HD receiver, or a DVR receiver........HD won...it's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
I'm lame....I know, but I will be up till 1am watching my boy Ronnie Brown get me some quality points in my work league....good thing I don't work 2morrow night!

Well if you lineup dead-line hasn't passed....you must keep scouring the injury reports.
If it has passed, there's nothing like some preresult second guessing.

Probably no more updates this week, given the fact that I have a long weekend and there's really nothing else you can do for your roster.

Do me a big favor, if you're reading this little blog drop me a little comment....it's nice to know people are reading.

Again, enjoy this weekend's festivities. Find your chair, get your cup and fill it with your favorite beverage, and enjoy!

See you after the games on Sunday night!

What to look for- Week ONE

Remember when you were a kid and Christmas was approaching? Remember Christmas Eve as a kid? It seemed like it lasted FOREVER! When I was kid it was always our family tradition to open presents on Christmas morning.

After a couple of years of this (and hours of begging) my brother and I convinced my mother to let us open one present on Christmas Eve.....just one. This was to get us warmed up, and get us through the night.

The NFL has followed the pattern of my mama...they are giving us just a taste to get us through till actual opening day. This taste comes...TOMORROW!

All the preparation, all the drafting, all the reading, lineup submitting, lineup REsubmitting....it all starts to payoff (or not) tomorrow!
That said here are some things to look for in week one of the NFL.

Right or Wrong we will revisit these facts after the fact!

Week ONE-
MIA @ PIT
Week 1. Game 1. Our taste.
Look for C-pep to look more like the QB of old.
Look for Ronnie Brown to hit a snag on his quest to be a top 5 RB...thus..
Look for Willie Parker to out-produce Brown.
Look for Hines Ward to play, but not break 70 yards or a TD.

BAL @ TB
Look for McNair to Mason all day long.
Look for Jamal Lewis to look like the Jamal Lewis we have seen over the past couple of years.
Look for Joey Galloway NOT to pick up where he left off last season.
Look for Cadillac to worry his fantasy owners.

ATL @ CAR
Look for Michael Vick to be a better Madden QB than NFL QB.
Look for Dunn's owners to not miss TJ Duckett....at all.
Look for DeShaun Foster to hurt.......something.
Look for Steve Smith's hammy to hinder his production.

BUF @ NE
Look for Losman to stay undrafted in ALL fantasy football leagues.

Pretty ambitious I know.......but one thing I know for sure:
Look for chips, dip, a 64oz Diet Coke and a comfortable chair....IT'S FOOTBALL SEASON!

Monday Nightly Update

Just a few player updates that may affect your fantasy team.

IND K-Adam Vinatieri
Looks like he may play this weekend. He says he's fine, and ready for the opener.
It's your call. He's the best in the game. Half a Vinatieri is better than most other kickers in the NFL.

DAL K-Mike Vanderjagt
After missing two game winning FGs it looks like the Tuna might sit Vanderjerk for game 1. Who knows if it was his groin that made him miss or the fact that he can just turn it on when it counts, either way this guy is an idiot who makes more in a week than I will make in my life.

DEN RB????
Who's the starting RB in Denver for week 1? Good question. Classic Shanahan, this is why I never have Denver RBs on my roster. Shanahan hates all fantasy football coaches, including you. Which ever one you start will be sitting the bench, so have fun.

More updates later this week as they occur.

Week One Quick Hits (What you need to know before submitting your lineup)

Since we have an early start to week one (Thursday night), and nothing to recap we'll hit this a little early this week.

PIT QB- Ben Roethlisberger
Roadrashburger can't catch a break. Sure he won the Super Bowl, but things haven't been going so well since. Sure he seems to be ok after flying head first into some old ladies car, but now an appendectomy is going to sideline him for week one. Charlie Batch looks to be filling in for Roethlisbergers as his status is listed as week to week. Batch probably isn't worth a pick up (especially with ???s with Hines Ward) unless you are desperate, but it might be wise to monitor this situation. This will obviously hinder Wards numbers if he plays.

CHI RB- Thomas Jones
Looks like C-ben is going to have to actually earn a starting role. With his injuries and inability to watch a complete game from the sidelines this isn't too surprising. Who knows how much work Benson will actually get week one, especially if Jones continues to do what he did last year. Since Chicago is playing Green Bay this Sunday, Jones is a solid option for RB2.

NYJ TE- Zach Hilton
Sorry Jared. Hilton, who was waived earlier by the Saints, has found a home on the Jets roster playing behind Chris Baker. Yes he was a deep sleeper anyway, but now he's just trash.

MIA RB- Lee Suggs
Miami picked up Suggs who was cut by the Browns. This should have minimal to no impact on Ronnie Brown's value especially since he couldn't pass the Jets physical. Might be worth monitoring.

HOU RB- Ron Dayne
Well it looks like twinkie-man has found a new home in Houston. His fantasy value is still 0 as it appears that Wali Lundy will remain the #1 RB with Morency at #2.

TEN QB- ???
Just stay away, unless you're playing against me this week.

PHI RB- Brian Westbrook
His foot is still giving him problems. "Most of the pain is gone." according to Westbrook himself. He almost seems like a Fred Taylor Jr., so if he's on your roster keep a close eye on this.

IND K- Adam Vinatieri
Sprained ligament? Bone chips? Not sure if he's playing week one. He's the best, but not on the sideline. I would pass on him this week.

SEA WR- Darrell Jackson
Jackson was activated from the PUP list. Jackson is going to "try" to practice this week. Once he gets healthy he will be a solid WR option, but until he proves he's good to go I won't be giving him the start.

NE? WR- Deion Branch
Just stay away. This is going to stay ugly for a while.

Well hopefully this was helpful for you. Check back later in the week for more updates.

The art of fantasy football smack talk

It was bound to happen...the final pick in the final round of your fantasy football draft.
We prepared, we went over every scenario that could occur, we mock drafted, we projected, we made a list, we drafted the best fantasy football team on the planet.
Now it's over.

So now what do we do?
Now we wait.

Sure we check up on our players, make sure none of them have broken or bruised anything. We scour articles looking for the sleeper that might have slipped through our drafts. We check player movement, and then analyze how that movement is going to affect every other player on every other team in the league. But in most cases our rosters are set, so...we...wait.

While we are waiting it's a good idea to brush up on one of the most important skills needed for success in any fantasy football league...talking smack. Why is talking smack so important? Because a busy message board can make a good league even better. Because no matter who you drafted, no matter where you finish in the standings, you can get the little victories that only talking smack can deliver.

Did your team lose this week? It's ok as long as your TE scored more than theirs, you can still talk smack.
Did you lose by 20+ points? It's ok, because your DF recovered a fumble and ran it back for 6 points.
Did his #2 RB outscore your entire squad? That's ok too, because......Your mama.
If talking smack can get you back just a shred of the dignity you lost, then you must, YOU MUST, talk smack.

How?
There are basically two types of smack:
Opponent slamming smack.
Self promoting smack.

While I do use both; my favorite, my weapon of choice, is self promoting smack. Slamming smack can be dangerous with the threat of taking things too far, or maybe scaring off a newbie. Besides when you self promote you can get under the skin of an entire league with just one post. Also, I love to play the role of the obnoxiously conceited jerk...just ask my wife. Now don't get me wrong, slamming others can be fun and very entertaining, but busting out with an blue-streak about someone or their family isn't smack...it's lame.

Just like any other ability, the ability to talk smack must be used or it will waste away. We must keep ourselves conditioned during the off-season. Just like you wouldn't want your star WR showing up overweight and slow, your league doesn't want a coach showing up on the message board with a beauty like, "Your team was poorly drafted, and I doubt you will be able to win very much." You must work and train to avoid this embarrassment.

How do you keep yourself mid-season smack talking form? Talk smack.
Every chance you get, talk smack.
Playing Candy Land with the kids?
When they get stuck in the Molasses Swamp, talk smack.
Wife making you watch take out the trash?
After she leaves the room...talk smack.

You must use it, or you will lose it.
Yes you might have a couple of crying kids, and if your wife has good hearing maybe you have a black eye.....but you must be resilient.
Put this to practice and while the rest of your league is talking week 1 smack you will already be in mid-season form.
